Take a look at two subtrees in particular: bsd/ FreeBSD-derived kernel BSD subsystem, including network stack and VFS osfmk/ Mach-derived VM, scheduler The current BSD code in Darwin differs significantly from current FreeBSD, but clearly has similar roots.
