Hi

I'm the happy user of a Cyrix 486Rx2
I'm using FreeBSD 2.0-Release and everything works find for me

Try to make an MSDOS boottable floppy disk.
then copy cx486.exe on the floppy disk and
debug.exe from your msdos disk.

then boot your computer on the floppy disk.
start cx486.exe,
configure your cx486
with the options 1 4 and 5

1 = cache disable between 0xa0000 and 0xfffff
4 = activate the FLUSH pin (ABSOLUTELY NEEDED!!!!!)
5 = activate the BARB pin
this pin activate the conflits with bus master DMA.

do not modify anything on the second page if you
dont know what you are doing.

activate the cache by removing the non cacheable area

write by W
then Q to quit

now you have your cyrix processor fully configured but
running msdos. you now have to do a soft boot
to do that

type

Debug
then
A
  XXXX:YYYY INT 19

type return twice to leave the assembler mode,
remove the floppy disk from the drive

and type
G
immediately a soft boot will start rebooting FreeBSD.

You may have a problem with your 80387.
it seems that the early 80387 have some bugs that
makes the unusable with the 486Rx2
(I had to change mine)

If you have any problem
email me a: didier@aida.remcomp.fr

By the way what release of Cyrix do you have ?
