I really don't Very likely a hardware problem. It could be a bad memory bit or some type of disk controller/PCI bus problem. I don't think it's a problem with the 2940 driver because we are using 3 of those controllers in wcarchive and we don't have problems like this (we don't currently have _any_ problems, actually :-)). Wcarchive is running -stable from 6 days ago. -DG
