They don't.  PIO is Programmed I/O; the AIC-6x60 chips don't do busmaster
DMA.  (At least, the 'aic' driver doesn't do it, the chips may be
capable of it).

Counter by asking "how would you put a BIOS on a parallel-port SCSI
adapter?"  8)
