Probably you don't have a .openwin-menu file in your homedir.

It is true that most linux distributions are more polished than FreeBSD
in this respect.

fvwm95 is a nice one (Win95 window shapes and start bar if you like it).
It can be found in the -current ports collectinoand in packages-current.

I'd recommend to take a look at the FreeBSD home page (www.freebsd.org).
Many are using the apache webs server I believe which supports FreeBSD.
