it is not something the chipset does, it is the BIOS or the OS.

I strongly suggest to pick up my version of the PnP code, which is
largely based over Sujal code but much easier to configure via
userconfig. You can find it in -current or at
http://www.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/FreeBSD.html
