Not that I know of, other than login classes, which can bite if you have
big processes.  You will probably want to go into /etc/login.conf and
raise the limits if you run big processes on that system.

You can go as gently as you want.  If you want to go slow, I'd go 2.1.7 ->
2.2.1 -> 2.2.5.
