Ok, I have to tell a story now too ;-) A friend of mine took once
a nice piece of wood, polished and painted it. He then used cooper
to build motherboard bolts (to mount it on), a frame for the cards
(simular like in a case). He took the power supply, replaced the whole
metal case with a plexi glass case. He mounted all the cables in
a very neat fashion, in a rectangle, etc.

I will try if I can find a picture of it.
