I'm still getting hangs during boot with the 1.129 version of ncr.c. It's a succession of ncr0: timeout nccb=<large hex number> It does this for quite a while, never finding and SCSI devices. I have to punch the reset button to restart the system. Here's an excerpt from a non-CAM kernel (that I backed up to) to see the SCSI configuration. Note that all the devices on the SCSI bus a narrow devices. ... de0: address 00:80:c8:0d:15:9f ncr0: <ncr 53c825 fast10 wide scsi> rev 0x02 int a irq 15 on pci0.20.0 scbus0 at ncr0 bus 0 sd0 at scbus0 target 1 lun 0 sd0: <DEC DSP3210S 441C> type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd0: Direct-Access sd0: 10.0 MB/s (100 ns, offset 8) 2049MB (4197520 512 byte sectors) sd0: with 3045 cyls, 16 heads, and an average 86 sectors/track st0 at scbus0 target 2 lun 0 st0: <ARCHIVE Python 28849-XXX 4.CM> type 1 removable SCSI 2 st0: Sequential-Access st0: 5.0 MB/s (200 ns, offset 8) density code 0x24, 512-byte blocks, write-enabled ch0 at scbus0 target 2 lun 1 ch0: <ARCHIVE Python 28849-XXX 4.CM> type 8 removable SCSI 2 ch0: Medium-Changer 4 slots, 1 drive, 1 picker cd0 at scbus0 target 3 lun 0 cd0: <TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-3601TA 0725> type 5 removable SCSI 2 cd0: CD-ROM cd0: 4.0 MB/s (250 ns, offset 8) can't get the size worm0 at scbus0 target 5 lun 0 worm0: <HP C4324/C4325 1.20> type 5 removable SCSI 2 worm0: Write-Once sd1 at scbus0 target 6 lun 0 sd1: <HP C3725S 6039> type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd1: Direct-Access sd1: 10.0 MB/s (100 ns, offset 8) 2047MB (4194058 512 byte sectors) sd1: with 3703 cyls, 9 heads, and an average 125 sectors/track Probing for devices on the ISA bus: .... This isn't too much to go on; is there any other information I can gather on the next boot attempts? And debug knobs to twiddle? I've successfully converted another Adaptec based machine to CAM and ELF; this system is converted to ELF, but still running the old non-CAM kernel. louie To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message
