Yes. In general I agree with you. On the other hand, it may be too hard a
problem to solve without some kind of hint. If not knobs, a config option.
The needs of a desktop are not the same as a file server and cannot be
inferred from short term metrics. Long term metrics, maybe, but who want's
to wait 2 weeks for a file server to become optimal?
