It is not a dumb a question. I did look into mrouted source code. The thing is that mrouted maintains a copy of its own multicast routing table. It doesn't need to search the kernel mrouting table. It only needs to add/delete entries in the kernel mrouting table. So no luck there either. Looks like I have to add a socket option for this purpose. L. Li "Bruce A.
