YESS!!!!!!!! that worked =) I grabbed a 320x200 image and popped it in there, rebooted and SAW IT! ok one more question then I'll leave y`all alone (about this issue at least!) When I want to change the image, any way to do it without rebooting? i.e. if I am using the image as my screen saver as well.. can I copy a new image in there and execute a command to re-cache the new bmp? Thanks so SO much!!! =) > -----Original Message----- > From: John Baldwin [mailto:jhb@FreeBSD.org] > Sent: Friday, December 10, 1999 5:14 PM > To: Network Admin [JPeterson] > Cc: freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.org > Subject: RE: splash screen / saver > > > > On 10-Dec-99 Network Admin [JPeterson] wrote: > > {~} -=# vidcontrol -i mode | grep 640x480 > > 26 (0x01a) 0x00000003 G 640x480x4 4 8x16 0xa0000 64k 64k > 0x00000000 > > 0k > > 27 (0x01b) 0x00000003 G 640x480x4 4 8x16 0xa0000 64k 64k > 0x00000000 > > 0k > > The x4 means they are 4 bits per pixel, i.e. 2^4, or 16 colors. > The splash > modules only work with 8 bpp, or 256 color, modes.
