print/auctex?

Apart from that, could you install versions for the different emacsen
into different directories? Imagine sites that have both emacs and
xemacs for their users. There should also be some mechanism for the
batch processing of ports that Satoshi does.

Lastly, lots of people still use xemacs20 so the dependencies are
wrong for them.
