The problem is with the default entry in ppp.conf (also 'enable dns' - these both work fine in interactive mode; if ppp has become picky that would certainly explain it.) I'm no expert, but I think that ppp.linkup is only run when you connect (the lines in question clear the old default route and set the new one) That's probably why it breaks autodialling;without ithe initial default route being added (to the dummy remote IP in tun0), no packets are sent to the interface, os the modem never dials out. Anyway, I've sorted it now, but maybe we should let someone know. There's nothing scarier than realising a cvsup has b0rken your network connection, thus disabling your only way to fix the problem.. Is there a URL that explains how to file PRs?
