If it is going into the vendor release, then commit it on the vendor
branch.  Preferably using the code that they actually commit.

Dont diverge from the baseline, and then cause additional complications for
the next import when it collides with the official fix.

Secondly, this area of the tree is maintained by Brian Feldman.  Be sure to
coordinate this with him.
