No luck here, either. 

squad51# cd /dev
squad51# ./MAKEDEV snd
expr: syntax error
bad node: mknod mixer

I suspect that the message:
device_probe_and_attach: sbc0 attach returned 6  

during boot is meaningful, or at least could point me in the right direction, but I can't find any references to it anywhere.

I really appreciate any help or advise on getting this to work...or maybe I'll just have to buy a new soundcard? It's very frustrating.
