Unfortunately, you are in the minority. They claim to have 12 million members, and a great percentage probably find the service useful and painless. The initial setup might be a bit unwieldy, but the idea is you can then use paypal for many other things without going through the setup process again. As such, there are some 12 million people that can donate to the FreeBSD Foundation with no hassles. Click, enter login info, send.
