Hmm. I looked into my BIOS and found not the slightest trace 
of a PNP OS. IIRC  BIOS is Dell V 1.7 (Dell took the freedom to
flash my BIOS last time my notebook was in for service because
of squeeking hinges. (it came back with the comment: no problem 
found and I had different BIOS )
