I hope someone is keeping track of the list of things where we've reverted good behavior on -CURRENT so that it compiles on -STABLE, such that we can go fix these reversions later? The whole point of implementing APIs of this sort was to prevent unfortunate/non-portable behavior in our own applications... Of course, the fact that Perl is a bootstrap tool is a big part of the problem :-).
