They are:
[13:27] [asmodai@purgatory] (18) {0} $ grep random /usr/src/etc/MAKEDEV
mknod random c 2 3; chmod 644 random
mknod urandom c 2 4; chmod 644 urandom
I am seriously suspecting something local must be wrong on your box.
Everything works as advertised here.
