I would almost suggest we default to ev56.. but do see enough pre-ev56 people email the Alpha list that I know we shouldn't. -mtune still uses only instructions at the mcpu level, but the scheduler uses mtune's CPU's preferences. While I do my own world builds, I like to use packages. Would be nice if we had > ev4 versions of them. CPUTUNE is a wild-ass idea; and maybe it isn't ready to go in.
