Kris, Thanks for the speedy reply. I wondered about hardware issues too, but on two different machines with vastly different hardware and no other indications of problems? The first machine is: CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor (1333.10-MHz 686-class CPU) Origin = "AuthenticAMD" Id = 0x644 Stepping = 4 Features=0x183fbff<FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,MMX,FXSR> AMD Features=0xc0440000<<b18>,AMIE,DSP,3DNow!> real memory = 268369920 (262080K bytes) avail memory = 255954944 (249956K bytes) and the second is: CPU: Pentium II/Pentium II Xeon/Celeron (334.09-MHz 686-class CPU) Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0x660 Stepping = 0 Features=0x183f9ff<FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,MMX,FXSR> real memory = 268435456 (262144K bytes) avail memory = 256024576 (250024K bytes) I'm following the standard instructions that come with bind for these builds (./configure; make; make install) so am I safe to assume it's gonna build for the right architecture? I've also tried building them from the ports collection with no better results. Any other thoughts?
