         FTP is the primary way.  I also look at the download speeds for 
http via lynx, samba, and wget.

         Standard 10/100mbps lan via Cat5e.

         Just 2 currently.  This machine and one workstation.  The server 
sits next to my workstation and acts as a general departmental file 
server.  It's a low usage server too, so 2 people on at the same time is rare.

>Are you using hubs or switches?

         Dedicated switch.
