Contrary to previous thought, the SCSI drive is not the issue it works 
flawlessly.
It is instead 
acd0: CDROM <SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148C> at ata2-master PIO4
I've verified this by simply unplugging the cable and booting.
It works without, but not with.
I check the Hardware notes (i386) for 5.0 SAMSUNG does not appear on the page.

Its probably a little over my head, but I'd willing to try to add support for 
this if I could get a few starting pointers.
