Ok, I've commited a patch that jake provided to me to reenable the
caches after a failed PCI peek. On just a kernel compile it goes
from:
     3771.66 real 3522.11 user 202.39 sys
to:
     1251.14 real 1133.63 user 103.13 sys

definately can see t hat it's faster.
