Thanks for that John,  the floppies now boot, but on my Cabriolet 
sysinstall crashes to the debugger with -

[Stopped at             softdep_disk_prewrite+0x50: ldl t0,0xd8(t0) 
<0xd8>      <t0=0x0>

This happens when I try and select the Distributions as part of a custom 
install
