Thanks, Giorgos. To clarify: yes, there's a *sample* file here, under /usr/share/examples. If I want the make.conf to actually be read and used when compiling something, I still need to move it to /etc/make.conf. Right? Thanks Andrew -----Original Message----- > But when I install FreeBSD 5.2.1, there is no make.conf in the > /etc/defaults directory. Also, /etc/make.conf only contains a couple > of lines; nothing about CFLAGS, CPUTYPE, MASTERSORTREGEX etc. The file has moved: $ ls -l /usr/share/examples/etc/make.conf -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel - 11815 Jun 10 05:09 /usr/share/examples/etc/make.conf
