Some slight glitches: ... I picked up a further glitch which appeared on both the AS400 and ES40 so I don't think it was my imagination: When running the fixit shell, 'Ctrl-C' violates POLA. It doesn't seem to interrupt the running process but continued pressing will cause the system to being up a box "Installation interrupt" and halt. >I've installed 5.3-BETA2 from the miniinst CD and it seems to be >running nicely. The buildworld wasn't as successful - trying to buildworld a fresh RELENG_5 using sh -c 'MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX=/home/obj/asv400 make CPUTYPE=ev45 buildworld' consistently dies with: ===> gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus gperf -o -C -E -k '1-6,$' -j1 -D -N 'libc_name_p' -L ANSI-C /home/src5/gnu/usr. bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc/cp/cfns.gperf > cfns.h No words in input file, did you forget to prepend %% or use -t accidentally? *** Error code 1 Stop in /home/src5/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus. My only problem is that I can't reproduce this from the command line. I've found /usr/bin/gperf, /home/obj/asv400/home/src5/alpha/legacy/usr/bin/gperf and /home/obj/asv400/home/src5/alpha/home/src5/gnu/usr.bin/gperf/gperf and all of them appear to correctly process that input file. I've gone through all the gperf executables visible on the system and they either correctly process the input file or don't execute (because they need RELENG_4 shared objects or are i386 executables). I'd appreciate suggestions here. I've also tried booting a couple of systems at work with mixed results. I would be very unpopular if I installed FreeBSD on these systems so I'm limited to experimenting with the live filesystem CD. (And have been looking at the commands that you'd need to restore a local system from a dump on a remote system). On a AS4100 4xEV5/466 and 8GB RAM (logically reduced to 2GB), it hangs just after GEOM configures md0c. On a ES40 4xEV67/667 and 2GB RAM, it boots successfully and I could bring up a DE600 (fxp) interface and access files via NFS. I haven't tried a DS10 (I'll have to see if I can pick one that can be rebooted without causing problems) or a ES45 (I don't think this is supported and finding one to experiment on could also be difficult). I've attached console logs for all three systems. Feel free to add this to your web page. -- Peter Jeremy --/04w6evG8XlLl3ft Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="as4100.log" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit P00>>>sho dev polling ncr0 (NCR 53C810) slot 1, bus 0 PCI, hose 1 € SCSI Bus ID 7 dka500.5.0.1.1 DKA500 RRD47 1206 polling isp0 (QLogic ISP10X0) slot 2, bus 0 PCI, hose 1 SCSI Bus ID 7 dkb0.0.0.2.1 DKB0 COMPAQ BD018122C9 B016 dkb100.1.0.2.1 DKB100 COMPAQ BD03664553 3B08 mkb500.5.0.2.1 MKB500 TLZ10 04a8 polling isp1 (QLogic ISP10X0) slot 4, bus 0 PCI, hose 1 SCSI Bus ID 6 dkc0.0.0.4.1 DKC0 COMPAQ BD0366459B B016 dkc100.1.0.4.1 DKC100 COMPAQ BD0366459B B016 dkc200.2.0.4.1 DKC200 COMPAQ BD009122BA 3B07 jkc707.7.0.4.1 JKC707 ASE AM DEC WSE BSD/V1 TMV2 polling floppy0 (FLOPPY) PCEB - XBUS hose 0 dva0.0.0.1000.0 DVA0 RX23 polling isp2 (QLogic ISP10X0) slot 3, bus 0 PCI, hose 0 SCSI Bus ID 6 dkd0.0.0.3.0 DKD0 COMPAQ BD0366459B B016 dkd100.1.0.3.0 DKD100 COMPAQ BD0366459B B016 dkd200.2.0.3.0 DKD200 COMPAQ BD009122BA 3B07 dkd300.3.0.3.0 DKD300 RZ1CB-CS 0844 jkd707.7.0.3.0 JKD707 ASE AM DEC WSE BSD/V1 TMV2 polling isp3 (QLogic ISP10X0) slot 4, bus 0 PCI, hose 0 SCSI Bus ID 7 dke0.0.0.4.0 DKE0 COMPAQ BD018122C9 B016 dke100.1.0.4.0 DKE100 COMPAQ BD03664553 3B08 polling tulip0 (DE500-BA) slot 3, bus 0 PCI, hose 1 ewa0.0.0.3.1 08-00-2B-C4-F6-73 FastFD (Full Duplex) polling tulip1 (DE500-BA) slot 5, bus 0 PCI, hose 1 ewb0.0.0.5.1 08-00-2B-C5-18-CD FastFD (Full Duplex) polling tulip2 (DE500-BA) slot 2, bus 0 PCI, hose 0 ewc0.0.0.2.0 08-00-2B-C5-03-A4 FastFD (Full Duplex) polling ei0 (DE602-AA) slot 4, bus 2 PCI, hose 0 eia0.0.0.2004.0 00-08-02-55-FC-42 FastFD (Full Duplex) polling ei1 (DE602-AA) slot 5, bus 2 PCI, hose 0 eib0.0.0.2005.0 00-08-02-55-FC-43 FastFD (Full Duplex) P00>>>b dka500 Initializing...
