I have a little over 400 ports installed on this workstation, but
relative to my reinstall of things to try to get teTeX working,
here they are (this is from an ls -t of /var/db/pkg, keeping only
the ones which were reinstalled or affected by the reinstall):

cmpsfont-1.0_4
amspsfnt-1.0_3
acroread-5.10_1,1
mathfonts-4.1
texcm-ttf-20010117
ttmkfdir-20021109_1
dvipsk-tetex-5.95a_1
teTeX-3.0
xdvik-tetex-22.84.8_1
teTeX-base-3.0_3
libwww-5.4.0_1
t1lib-5.0.1,1
teTeX-texmf-3.0_3
texi2html-1.76_1,1
tex-texmflocal-1.9

Note I followed the instructions at the url indicated in my
original email: http://people.freebsd.org/~hrs/tetex-upgrade.txt
which ended indicating that no further configuration should be
necessary. I specifically did no further configuration to keep
things simple for debugging purposes (although I obviously
installed some additional ports after installing teTeX).
