There are plenty of people who'd have a clue if you wanted to configure a FreeBSD system as a server or firewall. Doing digital audio isn't what most people use the OS for, but you may have a reasonable chance if you try the drivers here: http://www.opensound.com/ ...I believe they have S/PDIF support in their mixer. -- -Chuck
