The original intention was to add some functionality like pr/103501. I
found it much simplier to rewrite mdmfs in shell than wrestle with C.
After rewrite mdmfs become more comprehensible and easier to maintain.
Also this prevents stupid mistakes like pr/109863.
Generally, mdmfs is a simple wrapper and there is no need to write it in C.
