The SATA controller is definitely the same exact memory mapping. So, I've got two projects for you: 1) See if you can boot off the LiveFS again, and give me the output of "devinfo -u -v" 2) Visit the following page: http://www.cokane.org/dokuwiki/freebsd/amd64_compatibility#getting_the_hp_c= ompaq_6715b_working Follow the directions that point you to where to find the good ISO images, and use them to boot the system. When you get to the boot menu, choose option #6 that will take you to the loader console. Then enter the following at the=20 loader prompt: set hw.pci.hp6715b_membase_for_hda_audio=3D"0xd0614000" Then enter (to start the system): boot See if that does anything for you better. If you still have problems, then it is likely you'll need a different membase. I hopefully will be able to give you a good mem-base depending upon the output of #1, above. The purpose of setting that loader variable is discussed further down the document on my site, under the HDA Audio device discussion. You can safely add that loader setting to /boot/loader.conf so that it is automatically set after you get your system installed. I'd like to get a copy of your new dmesg (using my images) after you boot up as well. --=20 Coleman Kane Rest of the blob copied below: > ################################################################## > Here is the FreeBSD dmesg: > Copyright (c) 1992-2008 The FreeBSD Project. > Copyright (c) 1979, 1980, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 > The Regents of the University of California.
