Everything worked properly. Ubuntu ssh -X clients were able to connect to FreeBSD 9.0 sshd and run nautilus. Similarly, FreeBSD 8.1 ssh -X clients were able to connect to FreeBSD 9.0 and run nautilus. Sorry for all the bother but this really was failing this past weekend. DISPLAY was not being set on the sshd side so X clients were failing to start. I guess this is some form of use head space and this bug report should be terminated with prejudice.
