Hi. Thanks for the response. My research also indicates that the USB controller is part of the Ryzen core itself, so all indications are that the CPU is broken. I got myself a Ryzen 5 2400G (TBH, the upgrade in power and on-board graphics appealed anyway). Unfortunately, it turns out I have precisely the same USB troubles as with the old CPU, so it looks like it was a broken motherboard after all. Unfortunate, but given the data available the CPU did seem to be the most likely culprit. In case anyone has any recommendations for mini-ITX AM4 boards that work well with Ryzen and FreeBSD, and are well built, I'd be happy to hear them (privately would be fine, as this request is probably out of scope for usb@ ).
