They are sufficiently different (at least Python 2.7 and Python 3.7 are sufficiently different to require different patches). So there is more "software bureaucracy" here than just applying one patch. And https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=232792 has just one patch attached.
