Please send questions about XFree86 (which is I presume the X server you are running) to the XFree86 people. > Trying to run X11 on a Eurocom 5400 Laptop, but the screen just turns white > and increases its intense. > So, what is the problem, there is an 7543PCI Cirrus Videochip inside. Support for the 75xx chips in XFree86 is not good. You will have to turn to Xi Graphics and their XInside product to get a working server. Note that even this server has serious problems with many 7543 implementations, and you may be forced to run with no acceleration enabled in order to achieve a decent picture. By contrast, laptops featuring the C&T 655xx chips are quite well supported. Caveat emptor. mike
