Tell me more:

CPU type, memory, FreeBSD version, CDROM maufacturer...etc.....

However, I will tell you to:

1)  Check the configuration of your IDE controllers (wdc0, wdc1).

2)  Try moving the CD to the slave position on the primary controller
(wdc0).
