Then it checks the forward mapping for the name returned via DNS (A record). These must match. Apparently the client which is trying to connect either isn't in DNS, or isn't in the reverse mapping. Check your DNS server, and check that the FreeBSD box knows where it is (/etc/resolv.conf).
