It's almost certainly an imlib/png screwup: http://www.gnome.org/gnomefaq/html/x650.html#BLACKICON but you'll have to give a lot more information to be sure. FreeBSD version, version numbers of all of the GNOME and related ports (in particular, libpng, imlib, glib, gtk, gnomelibs and gnomecore), whether any or all of these were built locally, or from packages, etc. -aDe -- Ade Lovett, Austin, TX.
