Well, I think the correct answer is to sift through the
existing port and determine why the native compile of xfstt
works so poorly.

I have already contacted the author about this in the past,
and I have been familiarizing my self with the code.  To be
honest, I think it has to do with the size of the font files
under freebsd.

If I use several older font files under 50K bytes, it is not
a problem.  However, xfstt begins to die if I introduce the
newer "internet ready" files that are several hundred
thousand bytes in size.
