well, i'm not too sure how exactly to solve your problem, but i once had a similar one while messing with my /etc/rc configuration. i do know that in order to edit anything (as in write to the fs) you first have to mount the filesystem manually... something like: mount /dev/ad5s1 only whatever device your root fs is on. hope that helps peace, brian t h e S a d M a c h i n e . o r g On Fri, 1 Dec 2000, Tunjie Sumner wrote: > > I am a novice with the FreeBSD 4.1 software.
