The 3dm2 works with the 7xxx and 8xxx cards.  The web page is a little 
misleading as you have to say you are downloading for a 9000 card, when in 
fact its is designed to work with the 7xxx and 8xxx series as well.

If there is something broken on the CLI, you should let the 3ware folks know.
