I added this to libmap.conf:
[/usr/X11R6/lib/firefox/firefox-bin]
libpthread.so.2                 libthr.so.2

So then ldd showed:
bigguy# ldd /usr/X11R6/lib/firefox/firefox-bin | grep pthread
        libpthread.so.2 =3D> /usr/lib/libthr.so.2 (0x28b37000)

And I'm still seeing the same problem.
