Good to know that it is build-able on FreeBSD.

Probably this thread will give some hints,

they are use radeondump to configure card using frglx settings.

Unfortunately I've failed to configure external monitor with vesa
driver.
Everything other works fine for me (except GL and 2d acceleration of
course).
