It depends on the kernel implementation, but, in any case, all routes
that users (applications) manually install to the kernel will be
announced through the routing socket, even if the routes are
link-local or multicast ones.

And, in my understanding, on FreeBSD 4.3 (and prior versions), other
routes will basically not be announced.  In particular, routes
automatically installed via RA messages will not be announce through
the routing socket.
