You should have made one step further, to qt4-network :-) See: qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.3/src/network/socket/qnet_unix_p.h static inline int qt_safe_ioctl(int sockfd, int request, T arg) "int request" should be "unsigned long request" on BSD.
