Also, the command as shown doesn't work under csh, you must run under sh
(or bash?)

serv1# kill `cat /var/run/sshd.pid`
serv1# (. /etc/rc.conf && ${sshd_program:-/usr/sbin/sshd} ${sshd_flags})
Bad : modifier in $ (-).
serv1# sh
# (. /etc/rc.conf && ${sshd_program:-/usr/sbin/sshd} ${sshd_flags})
(This works)
