seems to build if I just run configure and make in the source
directory, but setting these:
export LOCALBASE=/usr/local
export CPPFLAGS=${LOCALBASE}/include
export LDFLAGS=${LOCALBASE}/lib
export LIBS=mp4v2
per the Makefile gives me this:
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /usr/local/bin/gmkdir -p
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
