yes I removed and reinstalled the ram modules. But I do not know where the cache chips are really localted. Actually the AS compiled the XFree source during all the day and nothing happened (no that much big disk spinning). I came back home and start using tar and pkg_add and it crashed... The compilation test is more meaningfull for eventually ram problems. I Am concerned it must be something wrong with the Disk, or the disk having some strange influence on the power supply as you suggested me. I will look better at the power supply when I go home. Thanks for your precious considerations! bye Rick On Thu, 12 Apr 2001, Koster, K.J. wrote: > Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 12:55:50 +0100 > From: "Koster, K.J." <K.J.Koster@kpn.com> > To: 'Riccardo Veraldi' <Riccardo.Veraldi@fi.infn.it> > Cc: freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG > Subject: RE: Interested in your opinion "machine check" > > Dear Riccardo, > > > > > Yes it's a good idea...
