Sorry, this won't work. Compilation with gcj has been broken for a long 
time, but unfortunately nobody with the skills required has the time to 
fix and maintain it. I filed a bug report about this in early January:

Since then, I have given up and am building with JDK 1.5 now, which, at 
least on -STABLE, works like a charm.
